Luxor to Aswan Nile Cruise

Overview

The classic Nile voyage, offered on its own so it can be combined with any Cairo or Red Sea stay. Board in Luxor on Monday or Saturday and sail south to Aswan, with guided visits to Karnak, Luxor Temple, the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Philae and the High Dam. Full board on a 5★ ship, all excursions and a licensed Egyptologist are included. Ideal as an add-on to a Cairo programme.

Day by day

1. Day1

   Embark in Luxor

   Meet & assist at Luxor airport or railway station and transfer to your ship. After lunch, visit the Karnak temple complex and its Great Hypostyle Hall, then Luxor Temple as the evening lights come on. Dinner on board.

2. Day2

   West Bank and sail to Edfu

   Morning on the West Bank: three royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings, the terraced Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Lunch on board as the ship sails south through the Esna lock. Evening in Edfu.

3. Day3

   Edfu, Kom Ombo and Aswan

   Carriage ride to the Temple of Horus at Edfu. Sail on to Kom Ombo for its temple shared by the crocodile god Sobek and Haroeris, with the small crocodile museum beside it. Continue to Aswan; evening free to stroll the Corniche.

4. Day4

   Aswan

   Optional dawn excursion to Abu Simbel by road, about three hours each way. Later, visit the High Dam, the granite quarries with the Unfinished Obelisk and the Temple of Isis at Philae by motor launch. Sunset felucca sail past Elephantine Island and the Aga Khan Mausoleum.

5. Day5

   Disembark in Aswan

   Breakfast on board, then disembark and transfer to Aswan airport or railway station. A night in Aswan or a flight to Cairo, Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh can be arranged.
