Cairo & Nile Cruise

Overview

Our classic itinerary pairs the great monuments of Cairo with a four-night Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan. Private guided sightseeing in the capital, then a comfortable cabin as the temples of Upper Egypt unfold along the riverbank. Domestic flights, transfers and a licensed Egyptologist throughout are included. Cruises sail from Luxor every Monday and Saturday.

Day by day

1. Day1

   Arrival in Cairo

   Our representative meets you inside Cairo International Airport, assists with formalities and escorts you to your hotel by private air-conditioned vehicle. Evening at leisure.

2. Day2

   Giza Pyramids, Sphinx and Grand Egyptian Museum

   A full day with your Egyptologist. Explore the Giza plateau: the Great Pyramid, the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure and the Sphinx. Lunch at a local restaurant, then the afternoon in the Grand Egyptian Museum, home to the complete Tutankhamun collection.

3. Day3

   Old Cairo and the Citadel

   Visit the Citadel of Saladin and the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, then walk Al-Muizz Street in historic Islamic Cairo. Continue to Coptic Cairo for the Hanging Church and Ben Ezra Synagogue. Finish in the Khan el-Khalili bazaar.

4. Day4

   Fly to Luxor and embark

   Morning flight to Luxor. Board your cruise ship for lunch, then visit the vast Karnak complex and, at sunset, Luxor Temple. Dinner and overnight on board in Luxor.

5. Day5

   West Bank of Luxor, sail to Edfu

   Cross to the West Bank for the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari and the Colossi of Memnon. Return for lunch as the ship sails south through the Esna lock to Edfu.

6. Day6

   Edfu and Kom Ombo

   By horse-drawn carriage to the Temple of Horus at Edfu, remarkably well preserved. Sail on to Kom Ombo and its twin temple to Sobek and Haroeris. Continue to Aswan for the night.

7. Day7

   Aswan

   Optional dawn excursion to Abu Simbel by road. Later, visit the High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk and the island Temple of Philae, reached by motor launch. Sunset felucca sail around Elephantine Island.

8. Day8

   Aswan to Cairo and departure

   Disembark after breakfast and transfer to Aswan airport for the flight to Cairo, where we connect you to your international departure. Extra nights in Cairo or on the Red Sea can be added.
