Overview

Six days in a country of green valleys, snow-capped peaks and sulphur baths. Explore Tbilisi's old town and ride the cable car to Narikala Fortress, drive the Georgian Military Highway to Kazbegi and the church at Gergeti, and spend a day among the vineyards and hilltop towns of Kakheti. Four-star hotels in the capital, flights from Cairo and an Arabic-speaking guide make this an easy first taste of the Caucasus.

Day by day

1. Day1

   Arrival in Tbilisi

   Fly from Cairo to Tbilisi. Meet and assist on arrival and transfer to your hotel. The evening is free to walk Rustaveli Avenue.

2. Day2

   Tbilisi city tour

   Metekhi Church, the cable car up to Narikala Fortress, the Abanotubani district with its sulphur bathhouses, the Bridge of Peace, Rike Park and Holy Trinity Cathedral. Evening at leisure.

3. Day3

   Kazbegi via the Military Highway

   A full day in the mountains: Ananuri Fortress, the Gudauri resort, the Jvari Pass, then Stepantsminda and a 4x4 ascent to Gergeti Trinity Church at 2,170 metres. Return to Tbilisi in the evening.

4. Day4

   Mtskheta and free time

   A morning visit to Mtskheta, Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and Jvari Monastery above the meeting of two rivers. The afternoon is free for shopping or the Dry Bridge market.

5. Day5

   A day in Kakheti

   Drive to Kakheti: the walled town of Sighnaghi overlooking the Alazani Valley, Bodbe Monastery, then the Tsinandali estate and its gardens. Lunch at a family farm. Return to Tbilisi.

6. Day6

   Departure

   A free morning, then transfer to the airport for your flight to Cairo.
